3 Signs Your Ductwork Was Poorly Installed
Whether the ductwork in your Delray, Florida, home is new or old, it has a big impact on how well your HVAC system works. Poorly installed ductwork causes lots of problems, from bad airflow to long-term HVAC damage. If you suspect your ductwork installation has problems, give us a call. Identifying a few symptoms will get you started on the path to rectifying the situation.
The Flex Ducts Lack Support
When we put ductwork in your home, we support the flex ducts so they don’t sag or dip. If the flex ducts in your attic are sagging, that means whoever installed them didn’t put up enough supports. A flex duct should have a support every 4 feet. If it doesn’t, it causes airflow problems and causes the duct to wear out.
The Ducts Aren’t Insulated
The ducts that supply your home with conditioned air need to be insulated. Even if your attic is insulated, the ducts still need their own insulation. If you see any exposed pieces of supply duct, we need to come fix that for you as soon as possible.
The Air Returns Are Too Small (or Nonexistent)
Air returns are essential to good airflow in the house. When your air returns are too small, or you don’t have enough of them, your HVAC system has to work harder to push air through your house. The compressor and air handler have to work hard when airflow is bad. Over time, they wear out faster, and you’ll need more repairs.
