3 Signs Your AC Needs a Tune-Up
In the hot, humid climate around Palm Beach Gardens, FL, having a properly function AC is essential for making it through the summer months. A failing AC system can certainly make being indoors quite miserable. Often, your AC system gives warning signs that a tune-up or repair work is necessary. Be alert for these signs and contact your HVAC company as soon as possible.
Low Air-Flow
Clogged ducts and failing compressors are among the factors leading to low airflow. Your compressor can get burnt out, become worn down, or loose. This will also affect the AC’s ability to create cool air, and should therefore be fixed right away.
Clogged ducts or dirty air filters also prevent air from flowing easily through the system. Fix blockages in your AC immediately. Failing to do so can significantly impact the air quality in your home, which can cause or worsen allergies and other respiratory problems.
Unusual Noises
Any new sounds such as rattling, banging or hissing are not good signs. Sounds can indicate that something has come loose in your system. Apart from reducing system efficiency, loose parts can also pose a fire hazard, and should be checked as soon as possible.
Strange Odors
Strange odors could be caused by wet filters, or a clog in the system, particularly in the condensate drain line. It is important to have your system checked right away to prevent the problem from becoming worse. Odors often result from mold or mildew, the decay of small animals in the ductwork, or are sometimes electrical in nature. Particularly if the smell seems to be the result of faulty wiring, it is best to turn off the system and contact your HVAC technician.
Don’t take chances when your HVAC system alerts you to a potential problem. Failing to act in a timely manner can result in costly repairs or the need for a new system. Even worse, compromised air quality could have serious consequences for your household.
