5 Ways to Lower Your Heating Bill During Winter

Cold weather might not hit Port St. Lucie, Florida, as much as it does other parts of the state or country. However, that doesn’t mean you won’t have heating needs. You want to be sure to make wise choices so that you don’t end up paying more than you should to keep warm during the winter. With a just few simple tips you can lower your heating bill this winter and still stay cozy and comfortable.

Let the Florida Sun Shine In

When the Florida sun is shining bright, open your drapes and curtains to let the sun’s heat do its job. Take advantage of this in all rooms that receive direct sunlight. You’ll use your heater less and still stay warm with the natural solar energy.

Set It and Forget It

Install a programmable thermostat, like the Infinity Remote Access Touch Control from Carrier. You can program it according to your schedule so the heat is on more when you’re home and less when you’re away. Best of all, you can do it all from your computer or mobile device.

Use Your Ceiling Fans

When the weather turns cold, you can actually still continue to use your ceiling fans. Set your ceiling fans on low speed, and so the blades turn clockwise, to help circulate the warm air from your heating system.

Throw on a Sweater

We only get a few days of the year to enjoy cold weather. Instead of cranking up the heat and increasing your electricity bill, put on your favorite sweater or those boots you never get to wear. You’ll save money and still be cozy and warm.

Get Your Heater Serviced Before You Need It

Having your air conditioner serviced in the summer is a given, but don’t forget to have your heating system checked before the weather gets cool. We’ll check everything to make sure your heater will run efficiently when the cold temperatures finally hit.

Whether you have a problem heater or you’re ready for that new thermostat, Preferred Air Conditioning can help. Contact us in Fort Pierce at (772) 905-3358 to set up an appointment or to get a free estimate.
