Electronic Air Cleaner Maintenance Doesn’t Get Any Easier Than This
Your electronic air cleaner works hard. These cleaners use static electricity to remove smoke, pollen, dust, pet dander and other particles from the air, making your home a healthier place to live. Electronic air cleaners are available as free-standing units for one room and as whole-house units that attach to your HVAC system. Electronic air cleaner maintenance is easy and inexpensive. Whichever style you choose, adding one to your home can remove up to 95 percent of the harmful particles in the air. Compare this with standard air conditioning or furnace filters. They may remove as little as 10 percent of the dirt and debris in the air you breathe.
Once you have an electronic air cleaner, maintenance is an easy task.
- Turn the air cleaner off.
- Remove the slide-out collector plates.
- Wash them under cool running water.
- Allow them to air dry — spread them on paper towels.
- Replace the plates, and turn the unit back on.
- Repeat at least once every three months — more often if you smoke, have pets or have allergies.
Electronic air cleaner maintenance really couldn’t be any easier. An air cleaner with clean filter plates operates more efficiently and uses less electricity, so keep yours clean all the time.
A stand-alone electronic air cleaner does not require professional installation, but adding a more powerful whole-house unit requires a consultation with a qualified HVAC contractor.
