Follow the Energy Star for Florida Home Efficiency
Being reminded on a daily basis about the damage we are doing to the planet, has meant many of us are now willing to do our bit to conserve the Earth’s resources. But with money tight, wouldn’t it be great if good environmental choices also made sense from a financial perspective? With the Energy Star program, the fantastic news is that you can go green, save money, and still enjoying a comfortable home.
What is Energy Star?
The purpose of the program is to help improve energy efficiency in homes and workplaces. Backed by the U.S. government and managed by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), this voluntary program has attracted more than 275,000 homeowners since its inception in 1992.
Customers, ranging from small school districts to multinational companies, have already saved nearly $230 billion on utility bills. And the environment has also been a clear winner, with more than 1.7 billion tons of greenhouse gas emissions prevented from entering the atmosphere during the lifetime of the program.
Energy Star for Home Heating and Cooling
With around half of home energy consumed by heating and cooling systems, HVAC units are a good place to start an energy efficiency drive.
If your HVAC system is more than 10 years old, or just isn’t keeping the house as comfortable as it used to, then maybe it’s time to get it checked out. If a new system is required, it makes sense to opt for an Energy Star unit. Any system which has earned the logo, will help you achieve significant savings in utility bills – estimated at up to 20 percent. You save and the environment benefits too – pretty much a no-brainer.
It’s also important that your new unit is properly installed by a technician with the necessary credentials. They will fit the unit in accordance with ‘Quality Installation Guidelines.’ These procedures ensure that efficiency gains are maximized.
